Title: Mirror Germany Creators: Sarka Prusak and Frank Gerald Hegewald For years historical research and sociology have been preoccupied with the question “What does “German” mean?”. The findings depend on both zeitgeist and demographics. Why? Because Germany is a fiction. A country is intangible. It is there, but you can only get so close to it. Just like a mirror image. The natural progression of this idea is to portray Germany as a mirror. This mirror is Germany.

“Typically German” perceptions and situations are documented in the German mirror; scenes from everyday life, types of people, lifestyles, architecture, cityscapes, landscapes, scenes steeped in history and media events. Find out more about art projects and photo series at
